What to Know About Waxing

Posted in Waxing

What to know about waxingWhen you are looking for long-lasting results for keeping your body smooth, you may want to consider waxing. Waxing has become the alternative to shaving. While it is a bit more expensive, you get smooth skin for much longer than other traditional methods. Many people are nervous about the waxing process and have a lot of questions. The Spa at Spring Ridge always wants our clients to feel at ease about any services they schedule. Here are some answers to our the most common questions we receive about waxing.

1. Who Should Wax?

Any age or gender can wax. If you begin waxing when you are the younger most times the hair is finer, so it may not hurt as much.

2. What’s the Difference Between Shaving and Waxing?

Waxing removes the hair at the root, where with shaving you bluntly remove the hair that is visible. Being how the hair is removed at the root with waxing it will take longer to grow back.

3. How Do You Prepare for the Wax?

Exfoliate the day prior, and don’t apply body lotion the day of the wax.

4. How Often Should You Wax?

Typically you should wait for 3-4 weeks for facial waxing services. Body waxing should be done 4-6 weeks apart.

5. What’s the Difference Between Hard Wax and Soft Wax?

Hard wax is removed without strips, as oppose to soft wax which is removed with strips. Hard wax is less painful, but soft wax is better for detailed work.

6. Will It Hurt?

It is uncomfortable because hair is being removed from the root.

7. What Is the Post Treatment for Waxing?

Do not use any exfoliating scrubs or expose the body part that was waxed in the sun for 48 hours. If you are prone to ingrown hairs, lightly exfoliate within 24 hours of being waxed.

8. What Is the Difference Between a Bikini Wax and a Brazilian Bikini Wax?

The bikini focuses on the top and sides whereas the Brazilian removes the front, sides, back, and everything in between.

9. What Is the Desired Length of Hair?

¼ of an inch is best, for greatest results. It is common for clients to believe that a 1/8 of an inch is enough hair growth, however, the wax cannot grip onto the hair which creates more pain.

10. Is There Any Area of the Body That Can’t Be Waxed?

The only two parts of your body that you do not have hair are the soles of your feet and the palms of your hands. Everything else is free game for waxing!
