Microneedling
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)
Medical microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a technology that has been around for a long time. It is a skin rejuvenation technique that can be used on the face and body. This treatment causes micro-injuries to damaged skin and stimulates a biological healing response. As the skin heals, newer and healthier cells replace damaged cells. This treatment can improve acne, acne scars, other scars, skin texture, pore appearance, stretch marks, wrinkles, and even hyperpigmentation.
The Advantages of Microneedling
Studies have shown that medical microneedling is as effective as chemical peels, fractional laser therapy, and intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments. Some of the advantages of this technology include:
- Quick treatment sessions
- Adjustable needle depth
- Minimal pain or discomfort
- No side effects
- Lightweight device
- Easy to use
How Microneedling Treatments Work
Microneedling treatments work by creating tiny wounds in the skin and breaking the blood vessels immediately below the skin’s surface. The body then releases platelets and produces growth factors that promote more collagen and elastin to repair the skin. Blood supply to the area is increased, new melanin is introduced, and more collagen begins to form. Fresh, new cells are generated in the treated area, replacing the damaged cells and improving the appearance and texture of the skin.
Microneedling is incredibly effective as an anti-aging treatment and can significantly improve the texture and appearance of damaged skin. While some scars and stretch marks can never be eliminated entirely, skin needling is the best treatment to improve skin quality in these cases. Ongoing or repeat treatments are safe to continue repairing the skin to a cosmetically acceptable level.
Your Microneedling Treatment Options
Collagen P.I.N. Microneedling
45 minutes • $350
The microneedles create small wounds in the skin, and the skin responds by producing new collagen and fresh, new cells. This technology successfully improves acne scarring, skin texture, pore appearance, stretch marks, melasma and pigmentation, and the appearance of wrinkles. Microneedling is recommended as a series of four to six treatments for the best results. This treatment can be performed by your aesthetician and may be used on the face or body.
Collagen P.I.N. Microneedling with DF Machine Treatment or Roll CIT
75 minutes • $350
Following a micro-needling treatment, maximum benefits may be achieved through treatment of the DF vitamin infusion or self-treatment with the Cosmetic Roll – CIT. The infusion of ENVIRON® products with high amounts of vitamin A, vitamin C, and antioxidants nutritionally equip the skin to allow it to respond and heal better. They also allow for maximum stimulation of collagen.
Surgical Needling
By Doctor’s Consultation Only
This treatment uses surgical needles to create temporary channels in the dermis of the skin. This stimulates the body’s own repair response, including the production of natural collagen and important growth factors. Used for both acne and anti-aging, surgical needling significantly reduces scarring and improves the elasticity and thickness of the skin. This procedure is performed by the doctor only.
Ultimate Eye Treatment using the Focus CIT
30 minutes • $35
This ultimate treatment combines a microneedling focus kit, a gentle peel, and an infusion of vitamin A, vitamin C, and peptides to rejuvenate the eye area. This treatment can address tired eyes, crow’s feet, and dark circles by de-puffing, brightening, rehydrating, and firming the delicate skin around the eyes. It is most often used in combination with other treatments such as acne facials and anti-aging peels.
After Your Treatment
After your microneedling treatment, you will notice a few changes to your skin. Immediately after treatment, your skin will feel sensitive to the sunlight. You should stay out of direct sunlight for at least 24 hours to avoid lasting damage to your skin. You may notice that your skin feels tighter and firmer. It may also look a little red as if you’ve been out in the sun too long. Your skill will soon return to its natural color and will develop a more youthful tone, texture, and appearance.
In addition to minimizing sun exposure, there are a few things you should do to ensure that the treatment is 100 percent successful. During the first 24 hours after you’ve received this treatment, you should only use skin products that are non-comedogenic or specifically created to be used alongside a skin needling treatment. This includes makeup, sunblock, sunscreen, and any other product that can cause skin irritation. Any topical product that can be absorbed through the skin should be avoided. Alcohol-based products will dry out your skin, so they should be avoided as well.
